If you’ve ever wanted to try the Saxophone, Trumpet, Clarinet or Flute then this one’s for you!!
“YES I CAN!” are a Charity, dedicated to teaching people with visual impairment how to play woodwind and brass instruments. They use recorded backing tracks to teach tempo and simple notes of all types of music, with the emphasis being “Music is Fun and Learning an Instrument is GREAT Fun!” For example you can learn to play the theme tune to “Wallace & Gromit”, or “When The Saints Go Marching In”, jazz and classical music – it’s your choice!. This method will have you playing a short piece of music by the end of your first proper lesson. Over the months there will even be a Blatchington Trust Band to join!
They will be joining us here at the Trust on Sunday 28th July to give our clients a FREE Taster of woodwind and brass which will last 45 minutes and accommodate up to 8 people at a time. The instruments will be demonstrated so you can hear what they sound like and you will also get a chance to hold them, feel them, press the keys – AND blow them – it’s so easy! From this you’ll be able to decide if you want to learn an instrument and which one you’d like to play – it’s your choice. Siblings are welcome too.
Lessons will run on the hour from 10am, the last of which will start at 1pm. Please complete a booking form if you are interested and give details of the times that would best suit you. We will do our best to accommodate you and contact you to confirm your slot.
If you can make it on the 28th, I highly recommend it. Chris Waters, Lead Educationalist at YES I CAN! won the 2009 Classic FM award for UK Peripatetic Music Teacher of the Year. He really knows his stuff and is passionate about getting young people playing musical instruments.
All details will be given during the Taster about obtaining instruments and the easy and affordable ways it can be done.
