How we can help

We offer a range of support services to help children, young people, and professionals to build confidence in using technology to achieve personal goals. Our aim is to remove barriers often faced by people with sight loss through tailored, practical, and inclusive support. 

What We Offer 

  • Assistive Technology Assessments: Understand you or your child’s needs with personalised evaluations. 
  • One-to-One Training: Tailored sessions using tools like JAWS, Supernova, VoiceOver, and ZoomText. 
  • Group Workshops: Learn alongside others in a friendly, supportive environment. 
  • Fun, Practical Activities: Hands-on learning that’s engaging and sociable. 
  • Signposting to Resources: Guidance to other helpful services and organisations. 
  • Support for Professionals: Advice and training for QTVIs, teachers, and other professionals. 
  • Try out assistive tech: We offer a hands-on experience with a limited range of assistive technology devices that you can test different gadgets to find what works best for you or your child.

Register with us to access support. If you’re under 30, living in Sussex, and have a vision impairment, you can join our community. Parents, carers, and professionals can also register on behalf of a child. Registering with us helps you stay connected with support, events, and opportunities tailored to you.

Frequently asked questions

We provide advice on accessible tech for students, training on using and teaching assistive technology, onsite visits to schools and educational settings and signposting to specialist services.

Training is free for families registered with Blatchington Court Trust. If you need equipment, explore available grants here.

A member of our team will work with you to understand your goals and recommend the most suitable tools and training.

Once registered, simply contact our Technical Support team to arrange a personalised session. We’ll help find a time and location that works for you.

We’re unable to support non-visual impairment-specific tools, such as PECS.

Our technology support is available to children and young people registered with Blatchington Court Trust, as well as professionals working across Sussex.

Begin by registering your child with Blatchington Court Trust. Once registered, our Family Support team will be in touch to explore how we can help.
